The Spider-Man franchise has one of the biggest fans in the world and it always leaves Marvel fans wanting more. From Toby McGuire to Andrew Garfield to Tom Holland, Spider-Man films have strengthened Fandom with each film. Created by Stan Lee, Spider-Man’s supernatural power, speed and agility have dominated our screens since its creation in 1962. Andrew Garfield, one of the brightest actors of our generation, recalls his time as a superhero and what a franchise. He meant this in an exclusive interview on the cinema debate with the Farooqi brothers.
“I’ve been part of a lineage that has something meaningful to me before I talk, it’s the best thing ever,” Garfield said. “It’s bigger than me, it’s bigger than Tom Holland, it’s bigger than Tobey Maguire, it’s bigger than Miles Morales, everyone can present themselves in this suit. That’s our whole story.”
Garfield recently starred in the Netflix film Tick, Tick Boom with Robin de Jesus, Alexandra Ship, and Vanessa Hudgens. He portrayed playwright Jonathan Larson creating his most famous work, “Rent”. Garfield has received critical acclaim for his performance and has been nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award, a Golden Globe, and an Oscar. While starring in successful films such as The Social Network and Hexo Ridge, Garfield has certainly made a name for himself in Hollywood, but his role as Spider-Man will remain with fans for years to come. Fans have also asked Marvel to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to complete Garfield’s Spider-Man trilogy.
The franchise’s latest film, Spider-Man: Nine Way Home, did well at the box office, grossing 58 587 million in its opening weekend. The film, starring Tom Holland, explores the concept of multiverse and connects MCU to past Spider-Man films, in which Garfield and Maguire re-introduce their characters from their respective Spider-Man films. In addition, No Way Home brought back villains such as William Defoe’s Green Goblin, Alfred Molina’s Otto Octavis, Jamie Fox’s Electro, and more.
When asked about his views on streaming services like Netflix, which dominates the world of cinema, Garfield replied, “I have a strange belief in our human need for a communal experience and I think we It’s up to us to explain it. I like to tell stories; I want people to find stories that are meaningful and whatever allows it to be incredible.
